Our Leadership Team

Kenneth (Kenny) Gardner-Smith is the President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Accendra Health, Inc., the newly branded home-based care company previously known as Owens & Minor, Inc. He has served on the Accendra Health Board of Directors since 2022.

Kenny is an accomplished healthcare executive with more than 20 years of experience leading patient care operations, driving strategic transformation, and building high-performing teams. Known for his people-centered leadership style, he has a proven track record of accelerating growth, improving operational performance, and delivering sustainable results.

Before joining the company, Kenny served as the CEO of Veritas Veterinary Partners, where he led a strategy reset and leadership transformation that drove revenue growth and margin expansion. Previously, he spent more than a decade at DaVita, serving in operational and executive leadership roles with responsibility for large-scale healthcare operations and global teams. Earlier in his career, he worked in investment banking at Morgan Stanley and relationship management at Wells Fargo.

Perry Bernocchi is Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer (COO) of Accendra Health, Inc., the newly branded home-based care company previously known as Owens & Minor, Inc.

Since joining the company, Perry has held various senior leadership roles and was appointed Executive Vice President and Chief Executive Officer, Patient Direct, in March 2023. He led the company’s Byram Healthcare division as CEO from 2009 to 2023 and was Byram’s Chief Operating Officer from 2006 to 2009. He has more than 30 years of deep expertise in operations, patient services, and business growth.

Before joining the company, Perry spent five years as Chief Operating Officer of Hemophilia Resources of America and 18 years at Caremark/Coram in senior operations and general management roles.

Perry earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Commerce, Business Management from Rider University.

Heath Galloway is the Executive Vice President, General Counsel & Corporate Secretary of Accendra Health, Inc., the newly branded home-based care company previously known as Owens & Minor, Inc. Heath leads the legal, public affairs, compliance, human resources, and corporate governance functions.

Since joining the company in 2013, Heath has served in various leadership roles and was appointed General Counsel in 2023. With more than 20 years of combined private practice and in-house experience, he provides strategic legal advice and sound guidance to the executive management team and business leaders across many areas, including labor and employment, executive compensation, litigation, mergers and acquisitions, commercial transactions, and regulatory compliance.

Before joining the company, Heath was a partner at Williams Mullen, a full-service law firm based in Richmond, Virginia.

Heath earned a Bachelor of Arts degree and a Juris Doctorate from Washington & Lee University.

Jonathan (Jon) Leon is the Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer (CFO) of Accendra Health, Inc., the newly branded home-based care company previously known as Owens & Minor, Inc. Jon leads the audit, corporate accounting, financial planning and analysis, investor relations, risk management, taxation, treasury, corporate development, and communications functions.

Since joining the company in 2017, Jon served as Senior Vice President and Corporate Treasurer until his appointment as Chief Financial Officer in September 2024. With more than 30 years of extensive experience in finance, global treasury, investor relations, and corporate development, he is focused on delivering strong performance, driving value, and positioning the business for long-term, sustainable success while ensuring financial compliance.

Before joining the company, Jon worked for the Brinks Company for 18 years, where he served as Treasurer.

Jon earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Finance from the University of Connecticut.

Nicholas (Nick) Piecora serves as Senior Vice President and Chief Information Officer (CIO) of Accendra Health, Inc., the newly branded home-based care company formerly known as Owens & Minor. As a member of the Company Leadership Team, he oversees the company's global Information Technology strategy and operations.

Since joining the organization in 2007, Nick has held a series of progressive leadership roles, most recently serving as Vice President and Chief Information Officer, Patient Direct. With more than 25 years of experience spanning IT strategy, enterprise applications, custom software development, procurement, cybersecurity, and vendor and contract management, he leads initiatives that leverage technology and automation to enhance operational performance and support scalable growth.

Nick is focused on advancing digital capabilities that improve the customer experience, strengthen revenue cycle performance through streamlined and compliant reimbursement processes, and drive greater operational efficiency through the strategic use of data, automation, and AI. His leadership has been instrumental in supporting the company's mission to deliver industry-leading home-based care solutions.

Prior to joining the company, Nick held multiple leadership roles in application development and technology at National Medical Health Card Systems, Inc.

Nick earned dual Bachelor of Science degrees in Computer Science and Business Administration & Management from Stony Brook University.
